Fannie Mae Cox, age 93 of Columbiana, Alabama, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Albert Lloyd Cox, Jr. and her parents, Terrance and Betty Eiland. She is survived by her sons, Billy R. Cox (Joyce) of Columbiana, AL. and Lamar Cox (Lucy) of Fayette, AL.; daughters, Carolyn S. Smitherman of Alabaster, AL., Violet M. Beasley of Alabaster, AL., Sharon L. Cox of Riverdale, GA.; sisters, Myrtle Conner of IL., Francis Downs of MO.; 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., followed immediately by a funeral service, both in the chapel of Charter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Harless Cemetery.

Our prayers and love go out to all the Cox and Eiland families! Aunt Fannie was such a joyful loving person, God gave us some wonderful cherished memories of Aunt Fannie and we are blessed for them!
I remember when a tornado was coming and granny got all of adults and kids in the hallway of their home and the tornado went over us but did not touch her and grandpa’s home. It was so scary. I remember her praying. Granny’s prayers worked! What a testimony to leave behind!

I’m broken-hearted that I couldn’t find a way to be there with you during this time of loss. I love you with all my heart. Aunt Fannie has been a huge influence on all of our lives in some way. Her love for you kids was endless. When we went to visit Aunt Fannie and Uncle Paul’s house we knew it was going to be a feast. I knew that at some point Uncle Paul would get me hook line and sinker with one of his tales. I can still hear and see him chuckling at my gullibility. I’ll never forget Aunt Fannie’s smile and the light in her eyes at the site of us showing up on their doorstep. The way her, our Mom and Aunt Francis turned back into teenage girls and would tease and pinch one another is forever etched in my mind. We have all been very blessed to have had that strong core of those Eiland sisters to guide us through this life. Teaching us the strength of family. To love unconditionally and give each other the proper respect to be who we are without judgement. And to look for a stronger power than ourselves to help us achieve this. I love and miss you all. If I can ever be of assistance please let me know. Let’s keep that family candle burning across the miles that separate us. Love John.?❤️?

I can see you and daddy holding hands, walking in the gardens, and dancing in the sky. I will always remember you and daddy for being there when times were good or bad. Thanks for being there for me. I will always have a hard time not hearing your voice in the morning, but I know that you are telling me good morning.
