Maxwell Wyatt Williams

Maxwell Wyatt Williams

Maxwell Wyatt Williams, age 3, passed away peacefully in the arms of his mother and father at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17.

Max was born on January 29, 2015, and lived in Hoover with his family. He was diagnosed with rare brain cancer at the age of 14 months, and spend the next two years refusing to let the disease keep him from growing into a vivacious, playful and funny toddler. After treatment in Birmingham did not work, he and his family spent six months travelling to New York and New Jersey for treatment. There Max and his family had some of their greatest adventures, exploring Manhattan between hospital visits and living in New Jersey for a month while receiving proton therapy. Max never let it slow him down, running through Central Park and eating ice cream outside of Carnegie Hall.

Max is survived by his mother, Lara Warren, and father, Morgan Williams, his dog Laika and his cat Tiki.

A celebration of Max’s life will be held Thursday, April 19, at Trinity United Methodist in Homewood. Visitation with family is at 11 a.m., and service at noon.

If you are looking for a way to honor Max, or to make life easier for families facing pediatric cancer, please consider making a donation to one of the groups who helped Max and his family along his journey, in particular the Hope for Autumn Foundation in Birmingham and the Ronald McDonald House of New York.

  1. It has been an honor to be a part of Max’s life throughout this journey. I send healing thoughts and blessings of love to Lara and Morgan and to Grandma Eunice and Grandpa Mark.

  2. Maxwell you’re going to be deeply missed buddy! You were a one of a kind stud with a smile so bright and pure. The only thing making this bearable is knowing you’re dancing in the sky now healty and free with loved ones who have passed on too. And you know what Max you are a real life warrior, wise beyond your years. Maxwell you were a trooper, a great kid. This loss is just heartbreaking and you have taught us to stop waiting for the right moment to do anything, to just do it! Just go out and live. To not take life or loved ones for granted. To live a full life especially when don’t get to know how many years we get. To carry on with a pure and open heart. We try not to live with any regrets but a biggest regret will be not getting to meet you in person. To maybe get a high five & tell you what a cool kid you are and how much your Uncle Scott loves you, your dad and mom. But we will all do our best to be strong, to cherish what memories we do have with & of you & ride on. We will release some balloons Thursday afternoon. So be on the look out up there ok Max. Sending tons of love, hugs and peace to your mom and dad during their journey of healing.

  3. My heart is filled with much sorrow and sadness for you and your family right now. I am grateful that you shared so much of your life as a family with us who are so far away -it made the distance feel insignificant as we caught glimpses of Max’s smiles. Even though we are far, please know that you are much in our thoughts…

  4. Max, I never had the chance to meet you in person, but through the eyes of your Grandmother (Debbie). You were loved by many and will be missed by many, but will always be in their hearts. Rest in Peace . You were bigger and braver than anyone I have ever seen.
