U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Sutton enlisted in the Air Force in 1965 and completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, TX, in June, 1965. He then completed the Jet Engine Mechanics Tech School, and later, the Instructor School at Chanute Air Force Base, IL, and became an instructor for jet engine systems and repairs. In 1968 Bobby completed training for the F-4 Phantom fighter aircraft at MacDill Air Force Base, FL, and he volunteered for duty in Vietnam. Bobby and I were both assigned to the 12th Tactical Fighter Wing at Cam Ranh Bay Air Base in Vietnam, where he helped support combat operations as a jet engine mechanic. After leaving the Air Force, Bobby helped organize and manage the 12th Tactical Fighter Wing Association, a veterans organization. He and I were active in various activities of the Association, and we were good friends. He was an outstanding man and will be greatly missed.

Bobby will always be missed by we members of the 12th Tactical Fighter Wing who served with him at Cam Ranh Bay AB in Vietnam, maintaining the F-4C fighter aircraft. We served our country well and I will always miss you. Rest In Peace my dear friend.
Rest In Peace my friend. Put in a good word for me with St Peter and with your recommendation I’ll be there one of these days and we can resume our motorcycle rides through the Dragons and the Hill Country and Twisted Sisters of Heaven, and our critiques of Bama football. Your friendship has been a lifesaving blessing to me. For now, Sgt Sutton, you stand relieved. Job well done. Rest In Peace, brother.
