Lois Burnett Pate (Tinnie)
April 28, 1934 – February 1, 2022
Born to a hard-working family, Lois, better known as Tinnie, entered the world on April 28, 1934. As the saying goes, “dynamite comes in small packages,” Tinnie was small but the world would find out that there was nothing ‘tiny’ about her. The youngest daughter of Maynard and Velma Burnett, she went on to live a life full of accomplishments, joy and family.
Lois was a founding member of what is now Pelham Church of God where she participated and led many ministries including choir and women’s ministry. With a heart of gold and a voice that matched, she would sing gospel songs as she worked around her Pelham home. Lois was a bus driver for the Shelby County School system from which she retired.
Her friends and family knew she loved camping, made the best cat-head biscuits and could pray fire from heaven. Often when entering her home, one might find her on her knees in her living room crying out to God on behalf of others.
Lois passed away peacefully in her home on February 1, 2022.
She predeceased in death by Mother Velma Bailey Gentry Burnett, father Maynard Burnett, siblings Eason Eugene (Bill) Gentry, Luther Thomas (Jake) Gentry, Floyd Gentry, Lloyd Gentry, Helen Burnett Roberson (Sister), Lucille Burnett McGaughy, Harland Ray Burnett, Marvin Burnett and husband Luther D. Pate Sr.
Tinnie is survived by one brother Marlin Burnett, children Donna Sue Pate Lunceford, Peggy Nell Pate and Luther D. Pate Jr. (Luke), as well as 6 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be Sunday February 6, 2022 held in the Charter Funeral Home Chapel in Calera, AL. Visitation will begin at 1 pm followed by a Service at 2 pm. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the graveside in Still Memorial Cemetery, Alabaster, AL.
