Charles Gene “Chuck” Howard

Charles Gene “Chuck” Howard went to be with his Lord on December 14, 2016 at the age of 74.  Chuck is survived by his wife, Debbie; brother, Paul Howard, and his wife, Alice and sister, Cherry Douglas.  He is also survived by his daughters, Carrie Wicorek and Melanie Hall; step-daughters, Trina Pulliam and Tara Shope; ten grandchildren; his Uncle Royce and Aunt Marion.  He was an uncle to Dee Dugan and Stacy Douglas and numerous other nieces and nephews.    Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie B. Howard and Lois Idell Cheney; brother-in-law, Stephen “Buddy” Douglas and many other beloved family and friends.  Chuck was born on Sept. 19, 1942 in Georgia, lived most of his life in Florida and moved to Alabama when he retired in 2012.  He worked in the banking industry as a manager for over 30 years and was employed at Home Depot at the time of his passing.   Chuck played and coached basketball and baseball.  He was a lifelong fan of sports, most notably the Atlanta Braves and Florida Gators.  His sports knowledge was unrivaled, except by his nephew, Bernie Dugan.  A Memorial Service is scheduled for noon, December 19, 2016 at Charter Funeral Home in Calera, AL.  His nephew, Rev. William Bursztynski will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Chuck’s life.  In lieu of flowers please give a donation to your favorite charity in Chuck’s honor.
