Donald “Don” Wilson Threadgill

Donald “Don” Wilson Threadgill, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, January 3, 2021 with Donna, his loving wife of 68 years and high school sweetheart, by his side. He is survived by his wife Donna Threadgill; daughter, Dawn Threadgill Joseph; sons, David Threadgill and Darryl Threadgill; Brother, Dr. E. Dale Threadgill; 5 grandchildren: Nick, Chris, Darah and Patrick Threadgill, and Stephan Vance; 6 Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Wilson Threadgill and Lucy Pemberton, and his son, Daniel “Danny” Threadgill.

Don graduated from Elmore County High in 1952 and attended Auburn University. His first job was with Burroughs Inc. where he was quickly transferred from his hometown of Eclectic, AL to the big city of Miami, FL. He later moved on to Monroe Systems where he worked for 20 years traveling the country accumulating incredible stories that would be told for the rest of his life, and beyond. Following his career at Monroe he and his family opened Dixie Printing in Columbiana, where they worked together for over 20 years. He served his community as the President of the Kiwanis Club in Columbiana, and as a board member of the Alabama State Fair and Shelby County Cattlemen’s Association.

He enjoyed spending time on the family farm in Eclectic, AL, golfing at Coosa Pines, Big M and Magnolia Meadows Golf Clubs, bird hunting with his beloved hunting dogs (Lady particularly), and fishing. Above all, he treasured spending time with his family and sharing what he enjoyed with them. His legacy will be carried through the incredible stories of his life and lessons passed on to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Services will be at a later date.
