Jimmy Leon Martin
Jimmy Leon Martin, 77, of Pelham, Al. passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020 peacefully at home. He was born February 27, 1943 in Shelby County, the youngest son of Isaac Newton Martin and Alice Frances Massey Martin. He was a lifelong resident of Shelby County. He retired as Construction Superintendent of Roy Martin Construction Company. He enjoyed working in his yard, tending to his garden and watching Auburn Football. He served as a deacon of Oak Mountain Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Fred & Grady; sister, Susan Wright; nine half brothers and sisters. He will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 55 years, Sandra; son, Scott; daughter, Kim; grandson, Seth; oldest brother, Gerald and Joe Sanderson who was like a son and numerous nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., both at Oak Mountain Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 with burial to follow in Oak Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, abiding by the social distancing and COVID19 guidelines.

I have known Bro. Jim for my whole life and he has done so much for my family over the years. He was truly a great neighbor and friend. I will miss seeing him in his yard making it more and more beautiful each day. He always waved as we went by his house.
