John Chase Pearson, age 45, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in Inverness, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father, John Ross Pearson; his uncle, James Timothy Pearson; his paternal grandparents, Cecil Clanton Pearson and Edna Blakeney Kuykendall; and his maternal grandparents, Robert Klein Bowen and Martha McGill Bowen. Chase is survived by Victoria Joy Pearson; his mother, Dr. Linda Bowen Pearson; his sister, Paige Pearson McCallister; and his nephew, Christopher Blakeney Bethea.

Chase was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on February 14, 1973. He graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 1991 and attended Jacksonville State University. Chase then served in the United States Marine Corps where he was stationed at Camp LeJeune as a Rifleman in the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division as a Lance Corporal until he was Honorably Discharged.

Chase was a member of the Georgiana Davis Masonic Lodge #338, located in Trussville, Alabama. He was also a Shriner of the Zamora Temple.

Chase founded Magic City Online, Alabama After Dark, MCO VIP Entertainment and a plethora of promotional media entities establishing himself as an entertainment mogul in the Birmingham music scene after dark. His companies were dedicated to promoting local musicians and local establishments through mainstream enterprising social media platforms.

Chase was sole conservator and primary caregiver of his ailing mother, Dr. Linda B. Pearson, who founded both Word Wise, Inc., an educational company that produced reading programs for primary and secondary schools as well as adult education, and The Reading and Math Center, a diagnostic and prescriptive learning center designed to address concerns for in-depth diagnostics of students with reading challenges. Chase continued his mother’s work and legacy in his own way after the businesses closed by continuing to tutor students at local libraries until his death.

Chase embodied living life to its fullest. He enjoyed the pleasures life has to offer. He always loved the outdoors, from spending summers at Camp Winnetonka growing up to summer music festivals to walking his favorite rescue dog, Gunny. Chase’s passion was music but his greatest love was the Lord, his family, and his friends.

Services to Celebrate the Life of Chase Pearson were held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo on Friday, August 10th at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Memory of John Chase Pearson may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital or the Humanitarian Foundation Charity of the Grottos through the Enchanted Lanterns program to help continue the work with children who have special needs.
