Nora Lee Moore
Nora Lee Moore (April 17, 1931 – December 18, 2017), age 86, of West Blocton, Alabama, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017, at home. She was born on Friday, April 17, 1931, to Mary Gold White & Grover White. She was married to the love of her life, Hubbard Arthur Moore, on August 7, 1948 and was preceded in death by her husband on December 23, 2007. She is survived by her son, Danny Clayton Moore and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Denise (Allen) Moore; several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. Nora wanted her family and friends to know her work here is done. She has traveled around the corner, just beyond our view, to be with God, and to meet up with family and friends who traveled there ahead of her. She is wholly restored and resting in joyful awe in the arms of God. Nora made friends of strangers easily and was always ready with cheerful conversation, a smile, or a hug for those who might need it. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 39:11). Mrs. Moore has moved into her future, no longer holding to hope, but instead to the hand of God. Nora was creative and multi-talented and was involved in church and community activities. She was a faithful member of Shady Grove II Baptist Church in West Blocton, AL, where she served as a Church Clerk. She was an avid reader and regularly received large print books in the mail from the Alabaster Library. She loved to paint and was attending an Art Class, learning how to draw black and white pictures using pencils at the Green Pond Woodstock Public Library; her most famous painting was of Paul “Bear” Bryant. She enjoyed crocheting; many church friends and acquaintances at Hair Connections have received her special crocheted Lucky Penny Star. She wrote poems and shared them with her friends. Her interest in genealogy led her niece Gail to scan Mrs. Moore’s old family photographs for posterity. She spent many happy hours reminiscing with Linda Sue Templin on Chandler Mountain. Before moving to West Blocton, she and her husband were active members of Concord Baptist Church in Calera, AL., where they were involved in work for their Savior and her husband served as Deacon. There will be a visitation Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and a funeral service Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Charter Funeral Home – 2521 US Highway 31, Calera, AL. Brother Houston Belcher and Brother Eddie Walker officiating.
