
Norman Arch Dolbow, of Pelham, AL, age 82, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born May 20, 1934 in Salem, NJ. He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Alicia Dolbow; parents, Norman Charles and Juanita Sherman Dolbow; sister, Mary Rappa and brother, Joe Dolbow. Norman served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He was a life long learner and avid reader, with a keen mind and insatiable curiosity. Norman was the steadfast patriarch of his extended family. Most of all he was a loving and proud father, grandfather and great grandfather. His survivors include his children, Patricia Menotti (Mark), Denise Hanners (Buddy), Frank Dolbow (Maria), Elizabeth Dolbow, Susan Berenyi (Richard), Alicia Mowery (Keith), and Keenon Scoggins (Ashley); sisters, Anna Mae McCann, Billie Lou Berger and Dawn Hurtado (John); grandchildren, Jessica Atkinson (Chris), Elizabeth Campbell (Josh), Charles Norman Santiago, Emily Menotti, Laura Dolbow, Stephen Dolbow, Michael Engel, Samantha Houston, Joseph Houston, Nicholas Berenyi, Matthew Smith and Tyler Mowery; great grandchildren, Jack and Sam Atkinson; sons-in-law, John Engel and Michael Houston; life long and best friend, Joe Anderson (Myra) and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Norman was also predeceased by wife, Elizabeth Mahoney Dolbow and former wife Susan Jane Long. A visitation is 6-8 pm, Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Charter Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 12:30 pm, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the funeral home. A Committal Service with Honors will follow at the Alabama National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shelby County Humane Society or the Alabama Spayed and Neuter Clinic in Norman’s name.
