Pamela “Pam” Ann Dunlap Burgess

Pamela “Pam” Ann Dunlap Burgess, [71], of Birmingham, Alabama left us on earth on to find peace on July 15, 2020. Pam passed peacefully in her sleep, with her loving family at her side.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 7, 1949, Pam graduated from Jones Valley High School and later studied at University of Alabama Birmingham.

Pam, a retired Account Clerk, remained very active after her retirement in 2017. She loved to travel. Perhaps more than anything, Pam loved to visit the ocean and the beach. She enjoyed gardening and wan avid dancer. Pam was an enthusiastic member of several dance groups in Alabama and regionally, including the Magic City Boppers.

We will always remember Pam for her ever-present smile, her loving, gentle and kind heart and her fervent zest for life.

Pam’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and close friends.

Pam was also an active volunteer having given much of her time to many local charities, including the Fire House and Mental Health Consumers of Alabama.

Pam is survived by her children: Son, Kerry Burgess of Birmingham; Daughter, Monica Gardner (husband, Chris) of Atlanta. Her grandchildren include: granddaughters, Annah Burgess and Zoie Gardner, and grandson, Cooper Gardner. Her surviving sister Robbie Woolsteen (husband, Tommy). Her nieces and nephews are: Crystal Krein (husband, Mike) of Las Vegas; Kelly Skelton of Panama City Beach; Matthew Romei (wife, Laura), Ashlyn Woolsteen and Rob Woolsteen. She also had 10 great-nieces and nephews all of whom she was very active as a loving Aunt and who loved her dearly.

Pam is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Frances Romei, and her parents Robert Eugene and Mary Frances Dunlap.

Arrangements are being handled by Charter Funeral Home, Calera, Alabama. A memorial service for close family and friends will be held in Pam’s memory in the future with details forthcoming.

  1. Pam was a good friend. I met her because we both loved dancing. She was a kind and pleasant lady. She and I talked mostly about our grandchildren when we met up at the dances. I miss Pam

It’s a small small world Pam we met many many years ago in Irondale at our street dance with your sister Linda who was a wonderful friend of mine She told my husband Tommy Blaylock that y’all needed to dance because she was a big bopper just like Tommy. Tommy passed several years later, then 3 years we meet again at the Magic City Boppers and became friends again.I’m so happy that I got to meet you and you were such a wonderful loving person and I got to know Linda‘s daughter in Florida through you . You are going to be greatly missed . you are a wonderful human being thanks for coming into my life to different times

  3. Pam always smiled when you saw her. You could tell she enjoyed life. I had good conversations with her about many things. I will miss you Pam and remember you always.
