Susan Cunningham, (70) of Pelham passed away, May 31, 2022. Susan was born to George and Margaret Whitfield on March 11, 1952 in Birmingham, AL. Susan graduated from Calera High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from Birmingham Southern and a Master’s Degree from UAB.

Susan is survived by her Husband of 47 years, Brian, her son, Alan (Kelli) of Maylene, her daughter, Katie of Pelham. She is also survived by 4 grandsons, Sam Cunningham, Parker Yates, Jake Cunningham, and Harrison Yates, along with many other close relatives and friends.

Susan was a devoted wife and adored mother and grandmother. She was a lifelong educator and touched countless lives in her 40-year career and long after. She was passionate about learning and seeing the world as many ways as she could, either in person or just through books. She instilled this passion in each of her grandchildren with countless trips to the Pelham Public Library when they were small. She also instilled in them a spirited passion for the Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team.

Visitation will be at Charter Funeral Home in Calera on June 6, 2022 at 11 am, service at 12, and family graveside immediately to follow.
