Heaven welcomed Virginia Martin Smith, February 26, 2021. Mrs. Smith was born in Chilton County, November 30, 1932, to now deceased parents Jennie and Bernie Martin, and she leaves behind two loving daughters Patricia Smith Kovalchick and spouse Edward Kovalchick, and Margaret Smith Lovelady. After her marriage March 8, 1949, to Milton Smith, she spent her early years as a homemaker, and then worked for the State of Alabama, where she retired and resided in Maylene in later years. Besides being a long-time active member of the Shiloh Methodist Church in South Calera, She was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star. Mrs. Smith especially Enjoyed gardening, her many flowers, and the simple pleasures of making dinners for her children and their families.

Mrs. Smith’s family includes five grandchildren, Micheala Kolvalchich Haynie, Johnna Kovalchick Matthews, Todd Lovelady, Chad Lovelady, Brandon Lovelady and six great grandchildren, Aja and Eli Matthews, Kelsey Cranmer, and Layla Michael, and Samantha Lovelady, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Smith will be laid to rest next to her loved husband at Rocky Mount Cemetery in Chilton County. There will be a graveside service Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 1 pm. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, to please make a contribution in her name to Shiloh United Methodist, 6214 County rd. 151, Calera 35040. Pastor: Lonna Higgs
