Amos Lewin Myles, age 96, of Montevallo passed away peacefully in his home on March 24, 2020. Amos served his country with valor in WWll on the frontlines in the 34th Infantry Division (The Red Bull) in Italy as a heavy machine gunner. He received the American Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service medal with 3 Bronze Stars. The last entry in the diary that he kept while in the service was “Home at last”. He was a long time member of The First United Methodist Church of Alabaster.
Amos was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Myles; loving wife of 63 years, Barbara Myles; and his son, Richard Myles. He is survived by his son, Terry Myles; grandsons, Matt Myles (Heather), Chase Myles (Jessica), Chris Myles (Samantha), Tre’ Myles (McKenzie); and great-grandchildren, Mady Grace Myles, Cade Myles, Mia Kate Myles, Camden Myles, McKenzie Myles and Marlo Myles. Amos will be interred in the Alabama National Cemetery on Friday, April 3, 2020. Due to our recent climate there will be a private family service now, followed with a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.
