Barbara Convy

Barbara Convy of Birmingham, AL, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on February 13, 2018. She was born on June 11, 1930 in West Hampton Beach, New York to the late Margaret Dorcal and the Late Cornelius J. Convy.  Barbara was preceded in death by her sister Betty Schmandt (Ray) and is survived by her nephews Chris Schmandt (Kathy) of West Chester, MA and Stephen Schmandt (Mieko) currently living in Taiwan.  She was proud of her great niece Kaya Schmandt Cronin and great nephew, Ben Schmandt.  Barbara graduated from the University of Dayton with a Masters degree in Theology and from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with a Masters Degree in Social Work.  As a member of the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity, known as Sister Margaret Timothy, she taught religion in Mississippi, Alabama and Virginia.  She retired as a Social Worker for the Alabama Department of Human Resources.  Special thanks are extended to Olivette, Crystal and Vanessa, the Caregivers in Barbara’s final years.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 27 at 2:00 pm at St. Francis Xavier Church, 2 Xavier Circle, Birmingham, AL Those who wish may donate in Barbara’s name to the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity, 3501 Solly Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19136.
